HALO COLLECTION
The Halo Collection™ by Alejandra Jewels™ features exquisite gemstones of vibrant colors in exciting combinations. The featured gemstones are cut in the cabochon style which refers to their rounded, convex form as opposed to the more traditional faceted form. Cabochons are simultaneously contemporary while evocative of a past era giving the Halo Collection a beauty that transcends time. The collection is available in unique gemstone combinations: Cirrus showcases Aquamarine, Iolite and Blue Chalcedony; Flora features Blue Topaz, Iolite and Prehnite; Aurora combines Green Tourmaline, Rhodolite Garnet and Amethyst; Helios composed of Yellow Beryl, Mexican Fire Opal and Blue Topaz; Tempest including Hessionite Garnet, Peridot and Garnet; and Chaos which utilizes unique stones of interest. Interspersed high-quality diamonds serve to contrast with, and thereby accentuate, the size, color and shape of the cabochon gemstones. 18 karat gold is utilized and the Halo Collection is offered with its cabochon gemstones individually matched to yellow, white, rose or green gold settings for added intrigue. They are also available in Palladium and Black Rhodium. Variants of Halo rings, earrings, necklaces and bracelets are made to be worn individually or to be collected and worn as sets. For any occasion, the Halo collection of fine jewelry celebrates color, design and quality.
DESIGN PHILOSOPHY
Alejandra’s philosophical approach to jewelry design is based on a desire to create artistically relevant pieces that reflect the twenty-first century. Through design she attempts to forge a connection between the sophistication of the modern era and the elegance of the past. Her primary interest is in gemstones with alternative colors, cuts and shapes. She is invigorated by mixing seemingly disparate colors to create exciting new combinations. Alejandra favors bold cabochon gemstones contrasted with smaller faceted stones in unlikely but complementary ways. Going a step further, she combines various colors of gold to support the gemstones both physically and visually. What inspires her is that the possible combinations of complement and contrast are virtually limitless but the perfect balance of those opposing forces is so elusive. The excitement comes from finding that perfect balance. Alejandra’s designs are thereby philosophically linked so they can be collected and combined. Versatile elegance allows her jewels to be worn and enjoyed day or night. Above all else, Alejandra’s creations are meant to excite and delight. ALEJANDRA JEWELS
Having always been enamored with cabochon gemstones, Alejandra wanted to create a line of jewelry that explored the exhilarating possibilities of the cabochon. However, she felt that prong settings interrupted the quiet smoothness of the cabochon while bezel settings were too heavy and darkened the stones. Not satisfied with traditional settings, Alejandra set out to develop an alternative that would better enhance the beauty of the cabochon. The result of that effort is the Halo setting which employs arms to hold the cabochon gemstones up into the halo. The continuous nature of the halo complements the inherent curvature of the cabochon while the arms allow light to pass through and brighten the stone. Functionally, the basic structure of the Halo setting is stronger than a prong setting and lighter than a bezel. The Halo setting is such an innovative and effective method to secure cabochons that a patent is pending for its utility. Alejandra Jewels, LLC was formed in 2009 to create jewelry designs based on the Halo patent, to craft those designs into an exciting line of jewelry, and to market that jewelry line to discriminating buyers who share our enthusiasm fine jewelry at accessible prices.
